Cyprus October 2019

This month’s photos begin in an European event space on the coast near Magusa.  There was a small festival and some music as well as people in traditional dress, plus a few stalls.  We moved on to Magusa proper, where we looked at a couple of interesting churches, one from 1300 built by the Knights Templar, now a cool bar.  We ended up at a Venetian house that had a very old fig tree (unusual fig) around 600 years old.  We then move on to Figen's Yoga Studio shoot.  Some action shots and portraits of Figen.  The full album has many more photos if your're interested.

Then spent a nice evening with Sidika and family.  I actually made friends with Adel this time by feeding her crisps.  She gave me a couple of lovely photos. Then below that are some shots of my Iranian students who are taking advantage of my photo skills for an inforaml shoot before the lesson.  They are both lots of fun, and their parents feed me traditional dishes which is nice.

My cousins were over from London, so hung out with them for a night. On the Saturday I walked around Kyrenia's old town for a couple of hours.

That week met a lovely guy,  a film maker, at the Aroma Cafe and we talked art and collaborations.  Look forward to seeing him again. The place belong's to his wife and has a really nice selection of food and coffee  Then on the weekend hung out with our german friends in Magusa.  If you have been following this blog you'll see they where here last year around the same time.  Lovely people.  We started out meeting at Naci and Elias's, where there was a new mother with kittens.  The tree Naci is sitting under dates back to 1300 and is the same type of fig tree as before in the Venetian House.

Below is a photo of the guy downstairs who is the bar manager, but he also playes bongos in a band.  I caught them from the balcony having a jam during the day.  After that are the two lightning photos captured in the morning and evening.  Good fun trying to anticipate and get the shots.  Then a nice portrait of a woman we see regularly at the best kept secret restaurant on the road to Magusa near the airport.  Their Koop Kebab (lamb shank and patatoes slow cooked over 4 to 8 hours) is second to none.  We dropped Naci at the airport then went for a walk around Lefkosa old town.

The next set of pictures are of my daily students.  It happened that they were both nicely dressed so we had an informal shoot after the lesson.  They are both doing really well at English and we are reading A Turkish Epic in English at the moment.  Some of the imagery is very advanced so it shows how much their English has improved over the months.

My Iranian students all had a day off so I took them to the 5 finger Mountains so they could get out a little.  Both the children work and really have a day off together.  I then got a call from my dad who wanted me to pick him up on the road to Tank, a Tank left over from the war about 20km from Mount St Hillarion.  Interesting drive there on a almost single track road.
