Eloiss

So I met Eloiss the night before at her artist residency projects final exhibition, Elo's Art House.  You can read about it here if you like.  I was struck by her general elegance before I even met her (she was sitting next to Ali when I walked in), then I really warmed to her whilst we were doing pictures.  As I said in the the exhibition blog, she is one of those totally natural people that spread good feeling wherever she goes. She is small, but has a lot of presence.  I think as friendly as she is, she has a lot of experience and depth, I think it would take some time to know her well. She speaks 5 languages for example.  She answers any questions honestly and thoughtfully, but you get the feeling she could say more.  I hope that explains it.  I would really love a whole day with her, rather than the 45 minutes we did have.  Honestly it was brilliant she made time for photos at all as she was leaving for Italy first thing in the morning.  So thank you Eloiss.  You are honestly inspiring.  All the best for the future.  Might see you in October.

So onto the photos.  With no plan in mind beyond walking around Lefkosa, the subject of her art residency, we decided to let nature take its course and just try to make some of the photo locations very Cypriot.  Beyond that we wanted to catch some personality.  I think we achieved both, with a few photos with an editorial quality.

Where better to start than the closed market in Lefkosa.

Next up was in the town centre, by the market, and the old church/mosque.

Then we had a bit of fun by a bench.

And finally we found another little spot at the back of the church/mosque.
