Shawdi

I have blogged about Shawdi before in Jan and Feb of this year. To summarise, we have shot together twice in Magusa, both very successful shoots.  We hit it off immediately, and her partner Cash is a great guy.  They are lovely, hospitable and creative.  The guys like my music taste too, which is nice.

So for our third shoot, it was all about a project I had in mind concerning one very old olive tree in Lapta.  You can read about Tree Mistress shoot here.  It might be my favourite shoot to date.

What I didn’t say in that post is that Shawdi and Cash actually came to stay at my apartment for one night.  After the tree shoot, that night, we took some fun photos at home.  I also wanted them to have a bit of a holiday as they are both so busy.  So the next day we drove west and had a lovely day out, with some photos added in, before I drove them home to Magusa.

Here with a selection of photos from that night after the tree shoot.

We started the next day at the Zammani house in Alsancak, Mo and Alisa helped the day before and I wanted to introduce the guys to Shahrzad, Mo's sister.  They are all Iranian, so I have been mentioning them to each other for months.  Mo had his keyboard set up and Cash loved that.

About 30 minutes away from Alsancak, there is a mountain road that follows the west coast.  The road used to be terrible, but it is recently updated.  You can get to the Maronite Beach there with the nice rocks.  Did a mini set with Shawdi, and then got some couples shots too.

We drove around and went for lunch and had a lovely time with Maria at Yorgo Kasap Restaurant in Komakitis.  She smokes, she drinks, she lights up the room and makes you very welcome.  It is unique, welcoming everyone and representing the whole Island.  I put the camera away and enjoyed my lunch.  Shawdi sent me this photo, which I love.

Just before lunch we stopped at the lovely little church, Shawdi lit a candle and we got some quality shots.  And a few more playful and couple photos.

And the playful.

After that we headed to lunch, then onto Akdeniz, specifically the campsite.  My cousin took me to the beach first, then Cansu, a cypriot film maker and artist, showed me the campsite.   But on the way in there are these terracotta men, which Shawdi loved.

So the campsite had quite a few people around,  We said hello but got on with some photos.  In some cases I had to edit tents out of the background.  But I absolutely love these stripe socks Shawdi brought along. And the great shapes she was making.

Cash got in on the action too,

I have taken this trip with people (Are you reading Bihter?) before and never found this tank.

Nearby is an abandoned house,  People were picnicing at the front and offered us some beer.

We kept it short, but love these window photos.  Got a few of Cash too, love the black and white one, and the colour one of Shawdi finding her seat.

And one on the beach with a fan, and the couple shots, like the first one best.

So after that we decided to call it a day and head back to Magusa.  I took a wrong turn and asked Shawdi to check maps on her phone, and she came up with a short cut.  Unfortunately the road was really bad and we came to a crawling pace.  About half way I refused to loose my good vibe, and we gathered energy for one more shoot, in the long grass at the side of this country road.  I love these extra quality shots, taken at dusk.  A faery feel to them.  Shawdi just started putting flowers in her hair.

Shawdi has many talents.  She beautiful.  She's creative.  She's mischevious.  She's sweet and kind, and natually cool,  and graceful, and tall.  We haven't found our limits yet, and i look forward to working with her again and again.  Cash and Shawdi understand me, and that means everything.

Expect another trip to Magusa soon, when we work on our next idea.  We still have a Tarot shoot in mind, and In The Landscape Shoot, a sad clubbing photo,  and we are both interested in the Zodiac.

You can find all of the photos in the new Shawdi Group, titled Night and Day.

Thanks for reading.  Leave you with this, thanks to Cash for this one.  Thanks to Shawdi for her good energy on the day, it was all such a pleasure.
