Well I have shrugged off winter and April has been stupidly busy. Several shoots and events. And some bad news, or maybe good, who knows. Thrilled to share this month with you. This is only part 1.
So we start of with Kate. Kate is a student, just 21, into skateboards and fashion, and a friend of Oksana, who asked me if we could shoot at an old factory. Noah came along too who I met at Silest’s film, so the non dancing university crowd. We did some shots at home after too. Find them on instagram @tusovka.kate @ok_sun.aa @noahllanes_

Next up are some photos of friends. The Iranians you know from other blogs, but this time their mother was here, so a good time for a family portrait. And Ali, a new friend.
So I bumped into Yolanda (I am not sure how you write it) a dancer ar Pera and she mentioned she was performing, so I went along. It was a great show and I saw another show setting up, and took pictures because it looked interesting, and made contact with the artist Irene. I have been trying to arrange a shoot with Yolanda for over a year, and 2 minutes into meeting her friend Iris we talked shoots and literally days later we shot. So that was great, and it was nice to meet Magarite too (portait early on) who told me that there are other performance days coming up in May and she had seen me before and hoped I would come to the student run event soon. Iolanda performs "Self-Echoes" @iolandacristina_ AND Iris performs "Through the Hands" @iris.franc0

So literally the following tuesday met up with Iris. She is from Portugal and in her 4th year at Pera. She very down to earth, and always laughing. She was great on texts with answering and she worked hard. The first part of the day wasn't as good as I had hoped in terms of locations to shoot. But the inside one was quite special. She needed headshots and stuff too. Here with some results.

Next up are my Iranian friends's teacher, who had an exhibition in Girne. Really evocative. The gallery is beautiful. Well worth checking out.

So popped to Hoi Polloi, still the best place in the capital to sit out in the street in the heart of the old town. They sometimes have music, or an open mic night, or a drag bingo. Artists congregate there, you can get some food, sit in the shade under a tree, and even get home made Zivania, or a coffee, or a draft beer, ordered from your table. Go often enough and you will start to recognise people and say hello. Maybe sit at their table for a moment. Or catch up with the ultra friendly staff. Or talk to the owner, who will grab you a table and settle you instantly.
I love it. Anyway said hello to Sarah (who I shot with before and have become friendly with) and Narin her friend. This actually two different nights, but I love these street portraits
So soon after this, my friend Alisa asked me to go to a stall that was at one of the coffee houses selling fairy jewelry, and her and her friend dressed up. A few shots by a fairly fairy bush. Visit the shop on Instagram. Its a new venture, so please go by and support them @rixy_trinkets
