Cyprus July 2022 Part 2

Part 2 starts with the Holy Colour Festival event in Magusa.  StudioSarp organised many of the circus acts and it was a pleasure to see the excellently produced show.  That said, security was pretty bad for artists, they kept searching bags and taking drinks, and the lavatory was off site, so you had to exit to go to the loo.  One of the artists too got manhandled (by a woman) over some misunderstanding.  When you have artists performing you should have artist badges or something to distinguish them from customers.  Simple common sense.  Full album here if you're interested.  Was nice to see some people I've met before as well as new people.

The sound of these planes are amazing. For those wanting more information on The Cyprus Problem this video is pretty accurate.

Next up is a bit of an afternoon out with Evgeniya and Auguste from Pera School.  Students here generally don't drive, so they miss out a bit on travelling the island. Anyway we hung out most of the night aswell and was a good evening.  I was a bit distressed to here some of the stories about the student experience here in Cyprus.  Halls of residents are often more expensive than local rents, with some dracoinion rules.  Most students realise after the first year that its much better to rent a house or flat together.  Other stuff came up, and in a nutshell if you don't speak Turkish you leave youself open to abuse from some locals and even the Police.  Locals are more trusted by the authorities and therefore will back locals when they are lying, because the students don't have the turkish to defend themselves.  One story involves locals claiming a bike was theirs and the Police believed them.

My Sister and Niece are over from the UK for a while and it was her son's fourth birthday.  Great to see the cheeky chap.

Next up are a couple of shots of Jeremy from the last post, he is the architect student, but he has currency skills and is setting up a business.

Did a couple of nights at CineMiles and bumped into friends there (Evgeniya and Seren) which was nice.

I also met an Italian photographer living in Nicosia on the Greek side.  He got in contact via Instagram after seeing that we were both into photographing dancers.  We met up at Hoi Polloi and had a chat and he is coming to visit me in Girne soon.  He's into performance and is quite conceptual.  Check him out on Instagram

Thanks for reading.  Full Album Here.
