Well it has been an interesting month. Corona Virus is on the rise but life goes on. We have over 200 cases in the north now which is far more than the original number that caused lockdown. The island is pretty quiet, traffic is clear, and shops are feeling the lack of people. Summer has been very hot, 35 degrees + every day and no rain. As we move into September there will be a 40 degree+ heatwave before it starts to cool down.

Bahar is a multi-talent and runs a great studio. I was meant to photograph her and her dance partner but there were costume problems, so Bahar invited some of her students for the shoot.

They were running around before the shoot taking selfies and generally proving that I am now an old guy from another generation. They were speaking in mixed Turkish and English, although the English was American in accent. You find that a lot of the younger students here go to international schools and pick up this international accent.

Its a good place just off the high street that plays good music and has decent food. The girls working that afternoon were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. naci always chats to people and is good to have around. We chatted lots and in the end I took photos of the team. The manager in the first photo is a great bloke and sat with us for a while. The girls are all students, studying phychology, fitness and architecture. https://www.instagram.com/threebcyprus/

I realise I was going there late when much of the food had ran out. I am doing this new diet that I have lost 5 Kg in two months on, the 16/8 fasting diet, basically you can only eat in an 8 hour period. So for the last two months I have been going to the excellent Magarina Bulli. When you only eat twice a day and no snacking, you need real food to keep yourself healthy. At Magarina Bulli you get a fantastic selection of home made food, plus salad, fruit, condiments, hot pudding, tea and coffee for one incredible price, 30tl, or £3.50. It opens at 11.30am and the food runs out around 2pm. It also has a community feel there and the staff are really friendly. The manager is a great girl too, and turns out she is a DJ and singer. It was Sidika and Elias's birthdays this month and we all hooked up at The Red Lobster for a meal and some drinks. Was nice to see everyone.

She and her husband had to have a covid test to get on the plane, then they tested them this end at the airport and she had to home quarantine for 7 days while the processed her test. She came along to see us and we went for lunch with my Mum and Dad by the sea.

Cihan only has one day off from his work and I have been saying for a while I would take him out. The Venitians had a great presence in the city back in the day, as well as the Knights Templar and there are various remaining ruins and such in and around the city.

Finally my hairdresser has finally opened his own place. He's a great guy that insists I sit for coffee after he cuts my hair. He has been moving around a bit and has never really been content working for others. He has finally met a good guy to partner with and has invested in a new place that had their opening last weekend. Great bunch of guys. They have a full selection of in house drinks and even a garden where you can smoke a hubbly bubbly pipe. They do the full service, nose wax, facemasks, hair removal and beard care.
