As I write we have been out of lockdown for 5 weeks. The border has been opened but now its mainly closed. Airports are open but restricted, and we now have 26 cases of Corona Virus. I am not sure what will happen now, but my best guess will be that airports will close again. We will see, but things seem a little uncertain. For my part I have been busy with engaement parties, birthdays and various days out. Here with the evidence.
During lockdown I edited a video for my good friends in London, The Urban Voodoo Machine. Various people sent me video clips and this is the result.
Late June saw some Barbecue action. When I was a kid, various men would wave cardboard at the mangal to get the coals burning. Now even in restaurants they use hairdryers. This was a boys only affair midweek with Hussein and Cihan.

Next up is Oxana, the woman that saved me from an operation on my big toe. She is a beautician and pediatrist. She pulled out a ingrowing toenail the size and shape of a thorn on a rose. It bled and hurt, but saved me a trip to the hospital. Her friend and her are both settled in Cyprus but are from Romania.

Next up is my cousin's engagement in her parents' garden. I was not the photographer but took a few snaps of the family. Later we went to a disco which I was officially covering.

And then onto the Club. There are 3 or 4 large Clubs in Cyprus but I have never been. After clubbing in the UK, with the type of music I like, this was a strange affair with few of the club anthems I am used to, with some turkish pop thrown in. I was in a VIP booth witht he engagement party. People were well dressed but there was the wiff of money in the section I was in, and as such people were more restrained than on the dance floor. It was open air and even had fireworks,

The smaller beardy guy was from Jordan, Between them all they spoke 5 languages. Nice people and place.

Later that day we made it half way across the island to a holiday resort called Aphrodite where Naci's cousin manages a restaurant that has been open for only ten days. Great steaks and lovely people.

The rest of the shots have the restaurant in the background and include the lovely waitress that really looked after us. She was from Kyrgyzstan too and is studying Hotel Management. Hasan, the boy, is studying IT and is from Turkey.

Last Sunday had another outing with Naci and went to an electricity plant over on the west coast where Naci had some work. I found the place great, with industrial eye candy aplenty.

Then we headed to one of my favorite places for a real cypriot lunch, Buyukkonuk. We had a darling little girl serve us and I snapped her and her Mum rather than the food, which i was too busy eating.

And then onto the beach. Bumped into Naci's nephew, notice the empty crate of bear by his feet. Also notice that there are no seaguls, but there are sparrows.

And finally a few shots in front of the flat. The ships are there for a holiday, the day Turkey saved Cyprus in 1974, but there were no celebrations this year due to Corona. And some Kite surfers that zipped by. They covered a lot of grownd, maybe reaching 30 or 40 miles an hour.

And last but not least, my Dungeons and Dragons group that have been playing weekly for abput two months. Great bunch of people. The game is run by Tom Baker, my old cabaret friend from London. One guy is playing from Canada and the rest dotted around London and England.
That's it for this month, see more in the album
