Nil and Nafas Two Point Zero

Regular readers will know that less than two weeks ago I shot with Nil and Nafas. You can read the previous blog here.
We had such a good time that I was keen to do more, so invited them again, and they were both free on Friday last.

I had been texting with Nil about new ideas and she had this whole headscarf idea. So I went out and sourced some scarves and fabrics over the next few days and Nil found something in white with a nice design on it that might make shadows. I also was thinking of doing more light painting with Nafas, but we ran out of time on the night, but I did inherit a sparkly knew light from Nafas for next time.

This time we did more photos with Nil, and Nafas was keen to document, and we even went outside. Nafas was a star outside, helping with the lighting.  Although you don’t get much attention in Cyprus when you shoot outside, we were right next to different people, they watched us closely, but I just ignored them and worked as quickly as possible. I got a bit bossy, so thank you Nafas for being great.

It was another very pleasant evening and we went over the photos together afterwards till late.  A little toast, some cake, and coffee and biscuits fuelled us through 1179 photos, which we chopped to 400 before I made my final selections and edits over the weekend.

It was really great to work on this headscarf idea with Nil, moving towards something more meaningful than a standard portrait.  It is really nice to work with good people that have ideas and that you bond well with artistically. When you find these connections, its worth working together again and again, if at all possible, because you will inspire each other.

So thank you both for coming again and inspiring me.  Hope to see you soon, but maybe next month now haha!

Check out Nafas and Nil’s instagrams.

Nafas is a visual artist that uses illustration and animation in photos and video.

Nil is a mixed media artist, using anything and everything, including photography sometimes.

Those short descriptions don’t do them justice.  I have a very deep respect for them both as artists and people.

So we start with Nil.  I am only sharing my very favourite photos  We are exploring themes of "Suffocation hidden beneath stillness." which is a direct quote from Nil's instagram and I used the titles for my album names, full albums link.

This first shots are from the album Hidden.

The next batch are from the album Suffocation

And some from the album In Stillness

I had always planned to do some shots outside the apartment again, and its fitting that there is a sense of freedom in these photos.  From the album Safe Harbour.

So Nafas did have a few shots, but I had to push her a little, she was too busy taking her own photos. She is a stylish person with effortless chic.

I leave you with a backstage shot, a few more pictures in the monthly album.

One last thing to say, this night went by so fast.  The girls were here from 6.30 till 11pm.  It felt like a couple of hours max. Time flies when you are having fun as they say.
