Nella
You might recognise Nella from my recent shoot with Isil. She was along for the day and helped with the shoot. Although we met a few weeks ago at Hangar, it wasn’t until the shoot with Isil that we bonded. I could understand right away that she was interested in photos and fashion, and she helped on directing the model. She was in jeans and a jumper on the day but I had an idea that she might, as the English say, scrub up well, which is to say, she might look great dressed up. And she did.
So on the day we met up at The Walls Inn. Everyone was on time. Isil and Suel had agreed to come and help, so it was the same team as the week before. Soon we were on route to Girne to shoot around the old town.
So Nella is short for Antonella. She’s from Africa but has Argentinian heritage. She is studying Audiology, which is to do with hearing and balance. I thought it was some music course! She really is a lovely genuine young woman that brings light into the world with her positive enthusiasm. She is always smiling or laughing, she’s spontaneous, sometimes wonderfully child like but she’s all woman too. She is also one of these people with a radiant smile, which isn’t always what photographers want, as it creases the eyes sometimes or distorts the face. But Nella’s smile is infectious.
I talked a bit more with Suel this time, and found out he has a brother into photography. He is a little shy of photos himself. He did a great job with the light this time, and I think he picked up a bit about method.
Isil was great, very fun all day, it was a pleasure to have her around.
She took charge of keeping her eye on details and Nella. I must say, that these friends are very cool together. They are affectionate, laugh a lot, tease each other, but all in good fun. It was nice to be around them.
Later we went to my home to go over the photos and have some food, before dropping them all back to Lefkosa. I got home again about 11, so it was a long day.
