It was a pleasant month with two epic shoots, a walk around the capital, both sides of the border, some changing weather, and a day with friends. But this month starts with friends, old and new.
So I have been seeing quite a bit of my student (biochemical) friend Mel recently. I met her around three years ago through Naci, and we have kept in touch. She is understanding of my need to take photos, and some months ago she moved nearer to me, so we have hung out and gone for lunch and coffee and icecream. Anyway her best friend from Turkey came over for a weekend and I spent a long day with them. Her friend Atlas was a complete suprise to me, and we totally connected. I picked them up from the capital and then we went to St Hilarion Castle first, view above. We ended up doing Bellapias Abbey too before going back to my apartment for a light dinner of village Helim (5 times stronger than the reular stuff, you need to fry it) and some photos before heading out to some bars. We also ran into some random people at Bellapias, portrait below.
So more about Atlas, she listens to Led Zepplin, plays guitar, teaches Italian, has perfect English, and is just super cool. She writes and has many sides to her character. The girls went out all night after I left them at a sky bar, and they had a late night the night before, So it was one of those youthful weekends. I wrote to Atlas on instagram to ask if it was ok to post the below picture, and she sent me this wonderful reply. I'll post her story when I get it. Here is her message to me.
"Helllooo. I am so glad that we have met and you have written to me You are so kind as usual. I will remember those moments I have been in Cyprus as lovely pieces of my rebelious youth😇 You may share it, thank you for asking. And I am not sure if you know that, but I also love writing. I would love to share also a story for this photo. Because I believe that my soul reflects itself on a mirror which is made by letters. I adore those photographs that also includes my chaotic but poetic soul."
I really can't wait to meet her again.
I include one more photo from a few we took at the flat
Next up is my shoot with Chiara (said Kiara), a dancer at Pera School of Performing Arts from Italy. We've shot together before with friends and met a few times. She is a wonderful person, lots of fun and full of life. Find out more about her in the full album of 120+ photos. The theme for this shoot was Nostaglia.

Her friend Shahar, another dancer from Pera, got in touch after seeing these photos. We did some general shots this time, shots she can use for call backs and such. There are almost 200 photos in her set, find them here.

Next up is a walk I did with the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Center based in the capital, a bicommunal organisation working with both Greek and Turkish Cypriots. This walk was made up of Cypriots learning each other's language and started on the Turkish side and ended on the Greek side. This is important stuff in Cyprus, trying to build bridges. Met lots of nice people and was very inspiring. Thanks to Evi for asking me along (I met her randomly one day months ago). Find out more on their website
