I came back to London to do a wedding and decided to stay and do a TESOL (teaching English as a foreign language) course. I also made it to The Double R Club which I covered for 5 years. More about that in a moment.
So The TESOL course was hard. Not in terms of difficulty, although it was difficult, especially as I haven’t been in higher eduction for over 20 years, but in terms of the sheer volume of work. I thought I would have some time to myself, but from the word go I realised it was going to be a month of lessons in the day, homework at night and more homework on the weekend. Its started gently, with 8 hours of lessons, and maybe a few hours of homework each day. By the end it was relentless, two weekends in a row I was putting in 12 hour days just to keep level, with exams looming, particular projects to complete, and a final interview with the moderator. The school was Oxford International in Greenwich, and I really can’t rate it enough. We had two main teachers that were both excellent, and several other teachers that observed us, and we observed. We had to put in 6 hours of teaching during the four weeks. It was working out 5 to 6 hours of preparation per hour lesson, and often we had other work to deadlines on the same days as teaching days.
My fellow students were all brilliant. It is a weird way to meet people. We only got to know each other as students during the course, and it wasn’t till the end that we actually connected as people. There really wasn’t time for anything else. We had a good drink at the pub, popped to someones house, and sat at the park, all after the final exam. And off course I took portraits of my classmates.
The Double R Club has been a big part of my life, so it was really nice at the end of the course to let loose with old friends and collegues. I chose a few portraits to share, but you can find 5 years at The Double R CLub HERE

Thw wedding was actually an old friend's wedding, and there were many old friends there. It took place before the course and the evening above, but I shouldn't really post any. There is no way to include everyone but here are a few. See you back in Cyprus
