Hellingly Mental Hospital was a ruin on the south coast and was knocked down in 2010. I went along with friends for a guided tour and had a great day investigating this impressive complex. What I found, apart from faint echoes of the past, was a playground for the people that had been exploring it. As much as the energy of the place reflected the patients that stayed there, in equal measure, the energy of the explorers resonated too. Thanks to Sam for inviting me along. Sadly these are the only photos that survive from the hundreds I took, and they are low res as well.
